Privacy Policy

At Cued we connect people locally and empower them to build communities that are safer and better by enabling them to share information and engage with public authorities in real-time. When you use our services you share your information with us. It is therefore important for us to provide you with an understanding of how we collect your information, how we use it, with whom we share it, and how you can have control over the information. We have written this Privacy Policy in the simplest of terms to do just that - to empower you to make informed decisions when you use Cued. 

1. Information We Collect

 

The information we collect when you use Cued falls into three categories: Information you provide; Information we get when you use our services; and Information we get from third parties.

 

1.1. Information you provide

Depending on which of our services you interact with, you need to provide us with certain information. To post, comment on posts, or like posts, you must at least have a personal account.  We have categorized the type of information you provide us below, based on the kind of actions you perform.

 

Create a personal account. To create a personal account, you must provide us with certain information, including name, username, password, email address or phone number, and date of birth. This information and others constitute your profile information. You can also choose to add your home location in your profile so that you always receive relevant content happening in the community where you live. Your public profile includes your name, username, and profile photo (if you provided one).

 

Create a professional account. In order to create a professional account, you must provide us with certain information including your professional category, street address and contact email address and phone number, all of which will be part of your public profile. 

 

Make payment. To purchase some of the services offered on Cued, we may require you to provide us with payment information, including a credit or debit card number, its associate information, and billing address. 

 

Post, comment , send chat messages. When you create posts, comments, or send chat messages, you provide us the information or content that go with these services. 

 

Set preferences. When you set your preferences under the settings section of your profile information page in Cued, we collect this information so that we can always respect your preferences.

 

Contact us. If you contact us for support or communicate with us for whatever reason, we will collect the information you provided us so that we can resolve your request. 
 

1.2 Information we collect when you use ours services

When you use our services, we collect information about which services you use and how you use them. We use that information to provide you services, help improve Cued and keep it more secure and respectful for everyone, and present information relevant to you. Here are the types of information we collect when you use our services.

 

Activity information. We collect information about your activity on Cued, including:

  • Posts you created and information about your other activities such as search terms, bookmarks, and groups you are a part of.

  • Your interactions with other users’ content, such as comments, likes, shares, flags.

  • How you interact with others on the platform, such as people you are connected to, your subscriptions, and when you use our Chat feature, including the contents of the messages, the recipients, and date and time of messages.

  • If you communicate with us, such as through email, we will collect information about the communication and its content.

  • We collect information on links you interact with across our services (including in our emails sent to you).

 

Purchase and payments. When you make a payment or send money using Cued features or services, including through an intermediary, we may receive information about your transaction such as what the payment was for, when it was made, when a subscription is set to expire or auto-renew, and amounts paid or received.

Device Information. We collect information from and about the devices you use to access Cued, including: 

  • Information about your device operating system to improve your experience of our services

  • With your permission, your device phonebook

 

Location information. When you use Cued, we collect some information about your approximate home location or current location to provide the service you expect, including showing you relevant posts and sharing your location to other users you choose to. 

 

1.3 Information we receive from third parties

Account connections, and integrations. When you choose to connect your Cued account to your account on another service (for example, when you use other social media to sign into Cued), that other service may send us information about your account on that service. The information we receive about from the other service you may include Public Profile Information (name and email address) and list of your contacts or friends.

 

2. How We Use Information

 

We use the information we collect from you for the following purposes:

 

2.1 Provide, improve, and personalize our services

We use the information we collect to provide and improve our products and services. For example when you choose to sign into Cued using your account from other social media apps, we use this information to authenticate you. The information we collect helps us to analyze the effectiveness of our services to understand how we may make them better. We also use the information we collect to personalize the services we provide to you, including showing you relevant posts. 

 

2.2 Promote safety and security

We use information we collect to provide for the safety and security of those who use our services and of our products and services. The information we collect helps us to verify your identity, prevent unauthorized access to your account, defend against fraud, or illegal activity. Also, we also use the information to enforce and investigate violations of our Terms of Service, to respond to requests from law enforcement, and comply with legal requirements.

 

2.3 Communicate with you about our services

We use your information to communicate with you about our products and services such as changes to our Privacy Policy or our Terms of Service. We may also use your information to send you promotional communications. 

 

2.4 Research and development

We may use the information you share with us for research and development purposes to analyze and improve our products and services. When we conduct these kinds of activities, we will transform your personal identifiable information into anonymous data by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable to you.

3. Sharing Information

 

We may share information about you in the following ways.

 

3.1 When you post, comment, and share

With all Cueders and the general public. When you post, comment, and share, you are directing Cued to disclose the content including your profile information (e.g., your name, username, profile pictures) to all Cueders and the general public.  This content may be viewed, used, and shared by the general public both on or off Cued, including on other apps and can turn up in Internet search results. 

 

With other Cueders. Depending on your settings, we may share the following information with other Cueders: Profile information such as username, name and profile picture; Information you directed us to send to specific Cued users, such as through our Chat feature and sharing your location; and information about how you have interacted with our services, such as your connections and subscriptions. 

 

3.2 With third parties

With service providers. We may share information about you with our Service Providers who perform services on our behalf, including service providers who facilitate payments; service providers who measure and optimize the performance of our services; service providers that map services and data management solutions; and those who provide search services.

3.3 When required by law, to prevent harm, or in the interest of the public

We may share information about you for legal, safety, and security reasons if we reasonably believe that disclosing the information is necessary to:

  • Comply with legal process, governmental request, or applicable law;

  • Protect the safety of any person or integrity of our platform, including to help prevent abuse or malicious activities on our platform;

  • Support decisions made to enforce our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines violations;

  • Protect our rights or property, or the rights or property of those who use our services and those of others;  

  • Address any fraud, technical, or security concerns.

3.5 As a result of a change in ownership

We may share or transfer information about you as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, or bankruptcy. If Cued Ltd. gets engaged in any of these transactions, we may share your personal information with the company involved in the transaction before and after the transaction closes.

4. How Long We Keep Information

 

We keep different types of content for different periods of time: 

  • We keep your profile information such as your name, email address, home location, and list of connections for the duration of your account.

  • We keep your location information for specified duration time based on how optimum it is to provide you with relevant services. If the location information is associated with a post you created, we will keep the location information until you ask us to delete the post. 

  • We may delete your account along with most of the information collected about you after you have been inactive for a while.

  • Messages sent via our Chat feature will be automatically deleted by default after we detect that they have been opened or viewed by all recipients or have expired.

  • We keep map markers associated with posts for 24 hours after they are created. 

  • If your account is suspended for violating our Community Guidelines, we may keep the identifiers you used to create the account (i.e., email address) indefinitely to prevent policy offenders from creating new accounts.

  • We may keep certain information longer than our policies specify in order to comply with legal requirements and for safety and security reasons.

5. Take Control of Your Information

You can take control of your information through the use of the following tools. 

5.1 Access, Correction, Portability

You can access, correct or edit your account information right in the app by editing your profile or adjusting your account settings. You can obtain a copy of your information that is available in the app by emailing us at support@cued.app.  Because your privacy is important to us, we will ask you to verify your identity or provide additional information before we let you access or update your personal information. We may also reject your request for access, update, or portability of your personal information for a number of reasons, including, for example, if you are unable to verify your identity or the request risks the privacy of other users or the request is unlawful.

5.2 Deleting your Information

While we hope you’ll remain a lifelong Cueder, if for some reason you ever want to delete your account, you can do so from your Edit Profile page in the app. When you delete your Cued account, your account information including, display name, username, and public profile, will no longer be viewable on the Cued app. Your posts, comments, likes can still be viewable but they will be associated with an anonymous user. You can also delete some information in the app, like your posts, comments, saved to posts, and notifications. 

5.3 Revoking Permissions

You can revoke your permission by changing the privacy settings in the app or on your device. Note that it may take some time for the new settings to take effect and you may lose functionality for certain services. You can use the unsubscribe link or similar mechanisms in our promotional communications (emails and SMS) to opt out of receiving these communications.

6. Children

 

Our services are not intended for anyone under the age of 13, therefore we will not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. In addition, depending on your country, you must be of a certain age to consent to the processing of your personal information. If your country requires consent from a parent or guardian, we will require the consent before we collect and use that information.  If you believe we might have collected personal information from a child outside the above mentioned conditions, please contact us at support@cued.app.

 

7. Revision to the Privacy Policy

 

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do make changes that are determined by us to be material, we will take steps to let you know in advance by email or other means and provide you with an opportunity to review them before they take effect.
